Vintage Cathrineholm Lotus Black Tea Kettle / Teapot / Teakettle by DipperVintage

Sold

Fabulous enamelware bowl from Cathrineholm of Norway. The "Lotus" pattern is highly coveted by collectors and for good reason. This color is a lovely, dramatic black with white "Lotus" leaves.

Enamel is in very good condition on exterior. Curved cast aluminum handle has a black plastic center. Top handle on lid is also black plastic. This piece has been used but with care: bottom shows wear marks and interior has water stains. No rust! And no nicks to spout enamel, which is really unusual. One tiny, tiny chip to exterior enamel on top edge of kettle and next to it, an even tiny chip, perhaps the size of a pin prick. See final pic. Otherwise, gorgeous condition. Displays wonderfully.

8 1/2" high, 8 1/2" wide at widest point. Hold 8 cups of water, when filled almost to the brim.

Vintage Sascha Brastoff Full Signature Free Form Low Bowl by MidModMomStore

150.00 USD

Full "Sascha Brastoff" signature low bowl, a must have for the collector. A full signature indicates that Brastoff personally designed and painted this piece. Other pieces signed "Sascha B" were produced either by decorators under Brastoff's supervision or copying his designs.

A gorgeous piece in muted colors of green with a whimsical "sampler" hand drawn design on the interior surface of the free form bowl. I love this bowl, it looks like a page of a sketch book, or a collection of doodles. Some hard to see gold accents to the drawings.

Bowl is in overall good condition and displays beautifully. There is a repaired chip to the rim and a hair line crack on the opposite side of the bowl. Please see pictures for details. Price has been adjusted accordingly.

Dish measures 11" long, 10 1/4" wide, 2 1/4" at its highest point. Signed by the artist on back "Sascha Brastoff"

Mid Century Modern Blanch Cline Studio Pottery Dish - Handmade Modernist Ceramic Plate

An excellent example of Mid Century ceramic work, this handmade plate is simply wonderful. Created by Blanch Cline, a revered Mid Century potter working in Washington state, this unique piece displays some of the high marks of Modernist work: whimsical shapes, elegant colors, and sharp lines. Featuring an earthy mixed glaze and a great shape, this piece shows all the hallmarks of late 50's studio work. This piece is unmarked, but features Cline's well known motif of Modernist figural shapes. This beautiful tray is in fabulous condition, with no age-related wear. Perfect for display, this studio dish is a testament to the simple yet stunning power of Mid Century illustration work.

A bit more on Blanch Cline, taken from Mark Jones:
"Blanche Cline received her college degree from Boston University & taught high school briefly in the Boston Public Schools before the outbreak of WWII. When the war broke out she joined the United States Air Force and was sent to Hollandia, New Guinea; while stationed there she was as she put it "In total awe of the Primitive Native Art" of New Guinea. Blanche Cline retired as a Major in the Air Force, while still in her 20's. After the war in 1946 is when she first started dabbling with making jewelry and enameling as a hobby. Although she was born and reared in Boston, in 1948, she abruptly decided to move to the Pacific Northwest. She had no job prospects and no housing arrangements. Blanche with her persistence immediately found work as a high school guidance counselor at Seattle's Franklin High School. During the time from the late 1940s to the early 1950s Blanche started making her night and weekend hobby of jewelry making & enamel ware more of a full-time passion. Besides selling to friends she started attending and selling at fairs. In the late 1950s Blanche had decided to try making pottery on her own."

You are viewing an absolutely incredible teak pencil holder designed by master craftsman Emil Milan. This elegant carved handcrafted masterpiece was made in the 1960s.

The desk accessory measures about 5” H x 5.75” W and is hand signed “Emilan Teak from Siam" on the bottom. This piece is in excellent vintage condition (see photos).

Emil Milan (1922-1985) was one of the 20th century's most remarkable woodworking craftsmen.

From New York’s Museum of Arts & Design website: Emil Milan was born in 1922 in New Jersey. A master at using the band saw, he was known for his contribution to studio woodworking. At a young age, he gained an understanding of manipulating materials from his father who was an industrial welder. Milan was trained in sculpture and worked in a Modernist style, focusing particularly on his craft of elegant carved object. Milan utilized machinery for perfection, speed and reproduction. He took classes for several years at the Art Students League of New York. In 1962, he relocated to a remote region in northeastern Pennsylvania and became an instructor in a USDA-Cooperative Extension Service craft education program. He helped set up the woodworking program at Peters Valley Craft Center in New Jersey, where he served as an associate, resident and taught throughout 1971-1984. In the mid-1960s, his teaching extended to Honduras where he worked with Joyce and Edgar Anderson.

Milan's work is included in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian American Museum's Renwick Gallery and Museum of Arts and Design. His notable exhibitions include Designer Craftsmen U.S.A 1953, co-sponsored by The Brooklyn Museum, as well as the Renwick Gallery's Craft Multiples (ca. 1975).
