This bowl has an earthy, handmade feel with geometric designs in dark brown over a gray base. The clay is a deep brown. Signed by the artist, Niels Frederiksen. Gorgeous piece. It has a wide, asymmetrical line and a fabulous seam along one side that makes the bowl particularly wonderful.
Approximately 8 1/2" wide at the top (varies slightly). About 2 1/2" tall. Unglazed foot.
No chips, cracks, or crazing. Fabulous vintage condition. Frederiksen studied at UC Berkeley and under Edith Heath. Later in life, he lived near here in Northern California.
